Artist Statement

My primary subject matter is people usually rendered in large-scale black and white prints. The process is often collaborative, requiring active engagement by the subjects. I have two goals:one is storytelling; the other is style.Speaking artistically, all memorable photographs are voyeuristic. There must be something pared down, impactful and salient to capture the viewer’s attention. In multi-image exhibits, the cumulative effect can build on itself; thus, becoming more powerful; provided, there is a consistency which constitutes a recognizable style and supports a powerful narrative. I often work for non-profits.
