Rachel Van Liere is an emerging artist who explores the idea of “bodies,” through organically tactile glass objects. Through these objects shared-space is explored, as well as the reoccurrence of design elements/form within the natural world. She has exhibited in a handful of shows throughout the Richmond area, as well her hometown of Lynchburg, VA. Her awards include 3rd place in the Riverviews 2012 Juried Artshow, and she was a two-time recipient of the Deans International Travel Grant with which she traveled to Germany for the Summer. While in Germany she interned at the Farbglashütte Lauscha, a glassblowing factory in the Thüringen Mountains. She graduated in 2014 with a Craft/Material Studies degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and is continuing her exploration of the world through art.
